ROD TECHNOLOGY |
Shimano’s comprehensive range of rods and poles offer something for each
and every angling discipline and represent the very best in experience,
technology and manufacturing excellence. Now as technologically advanced
and widely accepted as our reels, teaming them up creates the perfect
combination. Well balanced, precise and so comfortable in use, they feel
like an extension of your arm. Just add water, a Shimano reel and line
for the ultimate angling experience. |
GUIDES
Shimano rod guides are some of the best in the business. Anodised,
high tensile steel outer frames incorporate large diameter low profile
liners to maximise casting performance yet retain the natural action of
the blank.HARDLITE GUIDES
Combining lightweight yet robust anodised steel frames with Aluminium
Oxide liners, Shimano’s Hardlite (SiH) guides offer the ideal
combination of strength and performance without compromise.
SILICIUM GUIDES
Produced using some of the strongest materials available, Shimano
Silicium (SiC) guides are incredibly light, ensuring minimal friction
for perfect casting, presentation and of course, fish playing. |
SHIMANO DYNAMIC RESPONSE (SDR)
Shimano's unique SDR construction process eliminates any spine forming
during manufacture, meaning the action of the blank is always consistent
regardless
is bending. Shimano Dynamic Response keeps you in touch with turn a fish
makes, increasing sensitivity and responsive also improves the blank’s
recovery speed for a crisper lightning fast bites demand an instant
response.THROUGH THE BUTT CONSTRUCTION
This feature guarantees a full, uninterrupted blank action from tip to
butt with no cheap & heavy glass composite inserts hidden under the
handle!
Through the Butt Construction produces a much stronger, lighter butt
section that transmits casting & playing power more responsively.
Improved handling and enhanced action equates to better control and more
fish in the net. Shimano rods will deliver that promise throughout the
range, whatever your level. |
REEL
SEATS
Shimano reel seats are specifically designed for many of our float and
feeder rods. Incredibly light and robust, they hold a reel securely in
the perfect position and you can be 100% confident the reel will stay
right where it’s supposed to in the heat of battle. Shimano’s unique
ergonomic reel seat graces several models, taking reel seat technology
to new levels of excellence with a stylish, tactile grip offering all
season comfort.
SLIP'n'GRIP
The slide’n’grip reel seat offers exceptional flexibility and is
exclusive to selected models from Shimano’s Surf, Carp, and Feeder rod
ranges. The seat, constructed from a tough XT7 graphite composite,
features an internal double locking system to ensure maximum grip. The
slide’n’grip reel seat also features two adjustable hoods for ultra fine
adjustment and an integral trigger grip. |

ROD CONSTRUCTION |
XT300
LRC (LOW RESIN CONTENT) CARBON
Highly advanced carbon fibre technology. Stiff and light due to a
decrease of 20% resin content yet strong enough for heavy-duty use.
TCURVE
The unique Shimano Tcurve process combines special graphite cloth with a
revolutionary resin formula and manufacturing technique. The three-ply
weave undergoes a clinical curing process to produce a unique ‘Dynamic’
blank with massive pressure thresholds. Unlike others, Tcurve
resin molecules retain elasticity after the manufacturing process. The
outcome is 20-40% more compression resistance than regular carbon,
meaning any Shimano rod bearing the Tcurve logo packs significant hidden
power reserves, perfect for specimen and commercial carping
applications.
TDIAFLASH
TDiaflash is a blend of Tcurve and our much loved Diaflash construction
that creates one of the lightest, most resilient blanks currently on the
market.
HYPERLOOP
This remarkable breakthrough in composite carbon fibre blank technology
has enabled Shimano to build top performing products at entry-level
prices. Hyperloop rods are some of the lightest, stiffest and most
durable in their price category.
DOUBLE RING CONSTRUCTION (DRC)
The Double Ring Construction manufacturing process is the most efficient
way of producing blanks. An inner paper-thin ply of light carbon is
rolled at 90° to the rod blank onto which the main section is added. The
final part of the process sees yet another 90° ply of thin external
carbon rolled onto the blank to optimise its structure and create a rod
with unbelievable performance.
OVAL
BLANK
Oval blank is a revolution in rod design. A thicker profile on the front
axis delivers a more powerful casting action with less resistance,
whilst a thinner profile on the side axis delivers a softer anti-lock
action. This provides the best of both worlds – a casting and fish
playing rod in one. Built without compromise, Oval Blank features
on all rods in the Aero Cast range. |

BIOFIBRE
Biofibre is ‘state of the art’ in terms of rod construction and is 4 times
stronger than any other carbon material. It involves the random distribution
of ‘non woven’ biofibres and mid-short fibres that don’t cross each other,
but ‘float’ in an elastomeric (synthetic rubber) resin to reinforce the
carbon fibres in all directions. This process produces amazing strength
ensuring rods constructed using the Biofibre process are incredibly strong
and durable. Because of the significant increase in strength, you would
naturally assume that weight has been sacrificed to achieve this remarkable
level of durability. You’ll therefore be even more surprised to learn that
Biofibre is 2.4 times lighter than the lightest carbon fibre.FINE
CRYSTAL CARBON
Virtually unbreakable under normal use, Forcemaster rods are built using a
unique carbon fibre known as Fine Crystal Carbon. Fine Crystal Carbon has a
more compact structure than other carbons resulting in increased resilience. |
